Incredible performance NextGen Petanque Players at Lummen
At the high rankend tournement at Lummen (Belgium) the NextGen players won the Doublets tournament on Saterday and the Triplets tournament on Sunday.
After winning the doublets tournament in 2022 Sandy and Kim wanted to repeat the performance in 2023. However, it got even better. This time playing for the National team Sandy and Kim won the doublets tournament on Saturday beating the German National player Anna Lazaridas (Kim's teammate last year in Delft) and the Belgium player Els Maes. The next day Kim and Sandy where joint by Jenny for the triplets tournament. Again playing for the National Team. After a rough start, the NextGen triplet got better and better and reached again the finals. The opponents were the very strong team from the Netherlands with bronze medal winner of last year's European Championship in Den Bosch, Josefien Koogje. In the final Jenny was on fire, Sandy was shooting brilliant and Kim took care of the points. The NextGen players won the tournament final. Many thanks to the organiser Nico who was very happy with such succesfull team. Up to next year.
Good result at the National Championship mixed
With a second and third place at the National Championship mixed again the NextGen players did it very well.
With a large number of participants the teams needed to survive the qualification rounds. All the four teams with a NextGen player reached the next day. One player losing the 1/8 finals and one player losing the 1/4 finals, two teams reached the semi-finals. Unfortunately Jenny lost the semi-final. She played with her teammate two matches in four and a halve hour. The semi-finale was to much. Sandy on the other hand reached again the final. This was her third final at the National Championships. The other finals she lost so this final was the last chance to celebrate a National Championship title in 2023. Unfortunately she lost again.
With a second and third place it was again a great result for the NextGen Petanque players .
NextGen Petanque National Champion triplets and second place
At the National championship triplets in Zaltbommel the NextGen players reached the final after four rounds of Swiss system and half finals.
The team with Kim van Gellekom, Sandy Rikkers and Katy Kamps reached the finals unbeaten and where big favorit for the title. The opponent in the finals was the fourth player of NextGen petanque Jenny den Baas with her team mates Mathilde Boström and Lynsey de Bruijn of the club "het Dupke". All the NextGen Petanque players showed that they are the best female players for this moment. With high tempartures the final was very hard to play. At the end Jenny, Mathilde and Lynsey won the final and became National Champion.
With a title and second place NextGen Petanque are still on top.
NextGen Petanque winner tournament quaragnon 2023
NextGen Petanque particpated with two Doublets at the tournament in Quaragnon. Unfortunately both team met in the 1/8 finals.
The team Kim van Gellekom and Katy Kamps defeated the other NextGen Petanque team of Sandy Rikkers and Els Maes. The team of Katy and Kim reached the finals. With good shooting by Katy and good play by Kim they won the final and are winner of the tournament.

Big result at International youth tournament Vezon Easter 2023
During the International Tournament in Vezon our talent Kim van Gellekom was very succesfull. With participation of World champions and European champions at this highly ranked youth tournament Kim van Gellekom showed her best skills. Participants came from Belgium, France, Swiss, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany and the French TORO team. In this very competitive field Kim took with her team the 3th place. A very great achievement. Kim herself showed her shooting skills at the percision shooting contest with a 2th place. Kim was the best of the preliminaries. In the semi-final she defeated the girl from the French TORO team. Only the French girl from the National team, Dorinne, beat Kim in the final.
Farewell to Jac Machielsen
Today 6 of March, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Jac Machielsen. Dutch petanque has lost the founder of modern-day petanque in the Netherlands.
The top players in petanque, past and present, have all learned the finer points of the sport under his guidance.
Both nationally and internationally, his work was appreciated.
Jac , the Netherlands and especially NextGen Petanque will miss you.
December 2022: Collaboration between NextGen Petanque and Petanque live
To further promote the NextGen Petanque team and petanque in general, NextGen petanque and Petanque live agreed to work together and joined forces. Petanque live from JP Brands will follow NextGen Petanque live as much as possible during Dutch Championships, qualifying tournaments and major international tournaments.
